House Flipping Designs: Watkins Property | Kitchen and First Floor Bathroom

Finding Our Next Big Project

At the end of 2023, my wife and I stumbled upon this old house that was screaming for some love. It's this massive place, sprawled over 2 acres, with enough room to play hide and seek all day (we're talking 3,500-4,000 sqft!). Built back in the '70s, it had that sturdy foundation you'd kill for, but let's just say it was stuck in a time warp.

The Big Challenge: Making It Modern

The biggest issue? The layout was super outdated. We're living in a time where everyone loves those open, airy spaces, and this house was far from that. But here's the plan: to sprinkle a little bit of 2024 magic on it, blending that minimalist vibe with some cozy Scandinavian touches. Yeah, the ceilings are kinda low, but we're all about making it work and turning this place into something special.

Flipping with Style

This isn't just any flip; we're going all out to make this place stand out. We wanted to create a space that's not only eye-catching but also feels like home the second you walk in. So, we zeroed in on the kitchen/dining area and the bathroom on the first floor. Trust me, these spaces are going to be game-changers.

Kitchen and Dining: The Heart of the Home

Thanks to some genius planning by Eli Northen from Analogue, we've opened up the kitchen to the dining and family rooms, making it the perfect spot for gatherings. We're talking a gorgeous kitchen island, sleek cabinets in bright white and navy blue, and stunning quartz countertops. Oh, and we're laying down some beautiful oak hardwood floors to tie it all together.

Bathroom: Bold and Beautiful

We decided to go bold in the bathroom on the first floor. Inspired by this emerald green tile trend, we're decking out the space from floor to ceiling with these stunning tiles. It's going to be a showstopper, contrasting beautifully with the rest of the house. And because there's no natural light, we're getting creative with the lighting to make sure the space is warm and welcoming.
